to find Hurst genealogical information. It is suggested when searching
for your ancestors that you provide less information, rather than more,
to give you better results. The spelling of names can be problematic. When
using the Social Security Death Index, for example, do not provide more
information than you need, such as residence at death. Even
though you know your relative lived in a certain city, they may actually
have died at another residence, such as the home of a relative
or a nursing home. That other location is often recorded by the Social
Security Administration.
Birth years can also pose a problem. Many of my relatives did not have
a real birth certificate. When the time came for them to
apply for their Social Security Benefits, a date would be created based
on various other records that often conflicts with the information generally
known in the family. The best advice is to use a range of years that is
available on the advanced search feature. Also, exclude the
month and date.

clickable. This means that if you hover your mouse
over the feature and click your right, rather than your left,
mouse button you may see an explanation of the feature or a sub-menu that
will give you additional options which you can then left click on.
